UWA style comes with free fruit

A little change in my normal routine this week saw me lumping my vintage racks to UWA for the Guild student markets. I only wish I had a bit of time on my hands to really prowl the campus because from the small snippet of the student body that I saw, there was some serious stylers. I attempted to chase down a few, but was forced to abandon the pursuit to attend to the people patiently waited at my stall to pay for their items, how annoying of them right!

Yulia takes out my 'Outfit of the Week'. So simple; bang on a bali cotton top, high waisted pants and the most gorgeous brogues ever and you end up with a stunningly co-ordinated, casual-chic creation in a wonderfully effortless thrown together way.

Southbound bums identified: Perth gal Autilia

Autilia's and Brittany's bums from my 2010 Southbound Post.

I love the internet! I had no idea that when I snapped these denim clad derrieres at Southbound this year, that the owners would ever see the picture. Now I find out that one of these bums actually belongs to a 19 year old pint-sized Perth style queen. Better still, she has her own blog!

I am so happy to have found Autilia who flies the flag for inspirational, stand-out Perth fashion. Her style is delicate and darling as she flits about in lace and florals. The sun drenched style snaps could easily be confused with a fashion blogging Parisian, and her out-on-the-town outfits and shenanigans are akin to the New York hipster scene. Who knew Perth was this fabulous! Keep up the good work Autilia.

Blog advertising: Nuffnang ads

You may have noticed that I have recently placed an ad spot in my sidebar. Now I hope this doesn't deter you fine readers. I needed the blog to earn a little extra pocket money so that I could justify to myself the time I invest in it. Being self employed you really have to manage your time so carefully to further your business, have a healthy lifestyle and perhaps even have a social life. My answer - this baby needed to make some MON-AY (oh dear haha). I went with Nuffnang ads : it seemed a lot of fashion bloggers recommended them as you can be extremely selective about the ads you want shown. I'm happy with the results: I have a fashion related, nice little picture in my sidebar that doesn't seem to obtrusive. It certainly doesn't pop-up, spiral and flash all over the screen which is always a plus.

Now perhaps I'm taking my role as advertiser too far, but I had to check out the Yesstyle site - there are some really cute things on there! I got stuck trawling through their shorts range and found a few unbearably cute little numbers that really reflect the underwear as outerwear trend from the 2009/2010 runways.

I love this last picture! I was looking to buy some crinoline petticoats for some of my 50's style vintage dresses, which I will probably still get. However, these little petticoat bloomers are so adorable , wouldn't you just feel amazing having these peep out from under your skirts, and they are a little less dressy than the full crinoline. I may have to give them a try. Oooh I wonder if they come in black?

Ginger's Style: So long flowers

A day at market calls for something comfy. A chill in the air calls for a little bit of cover. Three quarter length 80's dark and flowery cotton dress and a soft cotton cardi does the job nicely.

It's getting cold out here

Winter is rolling in and I couldn't be happier, there is just so much you can do with an outfit when your rugging up for the chilly outdoors. There is certainly more options than on at 40 degree day which calls for a light dress and an air conditioner strapped to your back. So I say a grand hello to leggings, boots, cardigans and umbrellas.

This is a Ginger Fox vintage cardigan - doesn't it just look like the snuggliest cardi around.

This satin bomber is another one of my vintage treasures that came strolling back to my stall styled to the nines. Well done Leo!

Ginger's Style Icons: Katharine Hepburn

Katherine Hepburn was the unwitting style icon of her time. During the 30s, at the height of her fame, when all of Hollywood could be seen in figure hugging, bias cut, satin numbers that flowed gracefully to the floor, Katherine opted for trousers. Such a simple statement, yet this choice would be seen as a defining moment in fashion history. It is widely recognised that her non-conformist style lead to a drastic and permanent change in women’s dress code. So when you head out for the day rocking your casual, androgynous jeans and a blazer combo, you know who to thank.

She would be seen in a stunning dress from time to time

In 1986 Hepburn was awarded a lifetime achievement award by the Council of Fashion Designers. Calvin Klein, at the time, was quoted to have said “In 1930, she wore pants and suits considered scandalous; today, they are sensational"

She was fearless and one stubborn stick in the mud; when studio personnel attempted to force Hepburn into a skirt by removing her pants from the set, she merely paraded around in her underwear until they were returned. My hero.

Say hello to my little friend

This school is way to cool for words! Favourite bits of this video; Lil' Scarface dancing his 'I'm getting shot by machine guns' jig and the final assassin being gently guided onto stage. For their next school play I do so hope they try Trainspotting.

Ginger's Style Guide: Socks and Stockings

Continuing on from my post on ankle socks, I thought I would post on another hosiery trend - Socks and Stockings. I love this look, its so chic and sexy. It is especially suited to those that are on the fence with the over the knees boots look. If you wear all black shades and a set of heels then WAAALLAH you have a softer version of this look.

This little lady, Eszter from Vienna, is a literal queen of hosiery. If your after a bit of inspiration you should definitely check out this fashionista's pages. She also has a firm grasp on angelic shades with most of her outfits in whites, greys and pastels. Gorgeous!

Adeline Rapon

This is my favourite version of the look with its geek-chic charm.
