ELLERY sample sale

E L L E R Y
S/S 2010/11 sample sale at One40 William next weekend!

Yup it's on every Perth fashion blog around, but you have to support the home grown talent, right? Perth gal, Kym Ellery launched her label in 2007 and has managed to produce an astounding array of dazzling, vanguard creations.

Here's your chance to nab an ELLERY all of your very own.Something, perhaps, to wear to the unveiling of Kym's AW 2011 collection in the ELLERY trunk show to be held here in Perth in February. All a bit exciting isn't it!

P.S do check out the E L L E R Y website, if only for the extraordinary shoot on the opening page; with smokey eyed redheads wearing glittering metallics, striking a pose in the mist among bison. Awesome!

Style Icon - Bang Bang

''As far as con men stories go,
I think I've heard them all:
Grifters, ropers, faro-fixers,
Tales drawn long and tall.
But if one bears a bookmark,
In the confidence man's tome,
It would be that of Penelope,
And of the Brothers Bloom.''

'The Brothers Bloom' is a favourite flick of mine for so many reasons (Adrien Brody being the main reason...whew that man is too much). Its smart, funny and wonderfully stylised. Not surprising seeing as it's writer/director Rian Johnson's next project following the incredible neo-noir detective tale 'Brick'.

However, this post isnt about the Brothers Bloom or Penelope, but their silent and enigmatic co conspirator; Bang Bang, played by the amazing Rinko Kikuchi. Her style, thanks to costume designer Beatrix Aruna Pasztor, is a liberal jumble of quirky yet sophisticated fabrics and textures, and I am loving it.

Oxford Street markets

Incredible bakelite and celluloid jewellery from the 1920's-1940's
Curtisy of Miss Kitty of Vintage Space.

This is my friend the deckchair! I was just a teensy bit hungover at the market last Saturday and of course I forgot my chair. My neighbouring stall holder saw my world crumbling when i realised this and kindly lent me this chair, thus saving my life as I would have surely died if i had to stand a minute longer. I then dragged ole deckchair into the mulch garden in the shade and fell asleep. I'm a stallholder pro haha. Oh, and in the blue pot is my new plant - Gerry.

Lavender

Here's another of my recent shoots, this time with Mikka from Catherine Ruze Agency and Fallon Jones of Poise Photography as the talent behind the camera. Such a fun day with gorgeous gals, stunning threads and shoes to die for (and i mean that, have you seen the off white, cut-out, peep toes..holy bejebbuz I'm in love), supplied by Marie Clare- Claremont.

Oh dear.. while looking for a picture of my favourite shoes from the shoot I discover the Marie Clare online store. Someone hide my wallet!

Heartbreaker give away

Feel like a bit of foreign fare, well today's your lucky day because the kind people at Hopscotch have given me 15 sneak preview passes to French flick Heartbreaker.

Tall, dark and handsome Romain Duris wooing the face of Chanel, Vanessa Paradis in all her gap tooth sweetness (she really is such an interesting looking and intriguing beauty) set against the splendidly chic french landscape. Throw in a shirtless nod to Dirty Dancing and you have yourself a pretty fun looking film.

If you'd like a pass to Heartbreaker then just click on the link below and enter on the Hopscotch site . Good luck :)

Snakes on a shoot

I love my behind the scenes shots! Take a look at the going-ons at my latest styling gig. The shoot featured the stunning Keira-Jane Ephraims of Scene models and her slippery serpent friend, Hobbes the Stimpson python. Also on the scene at Mira Studios was the very talented photographer Carlo Fernandes and hair and makeup whiz kids Julia Pitman and Lisa Mullen.
Clothing was provided by Rock a Frock - perth based online boutique, and as of Tuesday, a flagship store in Wembley!

Wooszoo Star Wars

Oh I do love it when I stumble upon such wonderfully geeky products of a magnificently creative soul. Check out John Woo's (not the Face off director, as he is careful to point out on his Etsy store) fashionably forward salute to our favourite intergalactic characters. I have to say, these new ensembles are quite the step up from the mono-tone, head to toe PVC.
