No looking at fabrics with colours and textures that aren't flattering to your complexion or body type. Forget how pretty the dress is and move on to something that will bring out your glow.

Set yourself a budget when heading out. Stick to it, there is no need to make desperate “there was nothing else” purchases. Times will come up where you simply cannot resist the 3-7 extra items that will break your budget. These are the phenomenally perfect dresses for you, a winning moment. A bi-winning moment in fact, as you saved all the money sticking to budget.
Do-Not buy an ill fitting out-fit!
If the dress doesn't sit perfectly on you but you know it will look amazing on another girl. These beauties should fit like a glove and if you believe in positive shopping karma, then we will all receive our “it was meant to be” dress sooner than later.
Do wear your new gem ASAP!
Give it a whirl and see how it feels. Warning; Confidence levels go up when wearing one off piece that only you can pull off *wink*.
Do-Not over do it!
Yes it is ever so 60’s and you are channeling Edie Sedgwick, just tone it down unless you are going to a dress up party! Show your individuality through accessories, make-up and hair to inject a fresh and modern twist.
Do hold your chin up!
The perfect fit has all the elements to make you “POP!” Embrace your body and wear it with confidence, it’s the difference between popping and sticking out like a sore thumb. Be mindful of how content and pretty it makes you feel and it will make you own the garment rather than it owning you.
Do-Not clone!
If you or your friends have a similar vintage outfit its an automatic no. A unique piece is an expression of your taste, so don’t start to look bland.
Do Rotate!
Don’t keep doing the same spin of an old record. I’m talking time record. Go back to the future with contemporary options and toned down classical pieces. You are not the poster girl for an era, show what makes you timeless.
Do-Not get ratty!
Moth eaten, ripping at the seams, missing too many buttons and fading are inevitable after decades. Those vintage dresses are not worth their dollars if they cheapen your look. Quality vintage sellers do exist and are worth those extra dollars.
Do love it!
Put on the right shoes for it, spray your fave perfume, and a must do is contrasting lipstick so one cannot look away from your lips! Be bold with accessories, try on a hat or headband, gloves, or stockings and see what works. Dress up time is time well spent in attention to detail.
